From Wayne Besen's excellent blog we find the following, which is shared with his permission:
Teabaggers Storm Washington, Hurl Anti-Gay and Racist Epithets
Posted March 20th, 2010 by Evan Hurst
Yeah, these people have grievances, but they don’t have a damn thing to do with the healthcare reform bill they claim to oppose. Most of them don’t even know what’s in the bill in the first place.
Via John Aravosis, first we have the anti-gay bigotry:
Things are getting pretty heated in the Capitol with crowds of anti-Reform/Tea Party activists going through the halls shouting slogans and epithets at Democratic members of Congress.
As our Brian Beutler reports, a few moments ago in the Longworth office building, a group swarmed a very calm looking Henry Waxman, as he got on the elevator, with shouts of “Kill the bill!” “You liar! You crook!”
Not long before, Rep. Barney Frank got an uglier version of the treatment. Just after Frank rounded a corner to leave the building, an older protestor yelled “Barney, you faggot.” The surrounding crowd of protestors then erupted in laughter.
And then the outright racism:
Rep. Andre Carson (D-Ind.) claimed Saturday that healthcare protesters at the Capitol directed racial epithets at Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) as he walked outside.
Carson, a member of the Congressional Black Caucus along with Lewis, told The Hill that protesters called Lewis the N-word.
Tea Party protesters held a rally outside the Capitol on Saturday, which included speeches by Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) and actor Jon Voight, and then proceeded into the halls to lobby members at the 11th hour.
Teabaggers always whine when people suggest that their movement is, at its core, a racist movement. I’d go further. They’re not just garden variety racists, they’re straight up white supremacists. This sycophantic white trash doesn’t deserve a place in our national discourse.
In case you missed it the other day, watch this video. Look at these stupid people who can’t even answer elementary questions about why they hate the health bill so much. They can’t answer them because they don’t know. They haven’t read the bill. They couldn’t read it if they wanted to. All they know is that they’ve been activated by their corporate overlords like the useful, racist, hateful morons they are.

The US Constitution seems to give people like yourself the fits. Why is that, John?
Do you have some anger management issues that set off these tirades?
I have no problem with what is said in the Constitution, only in how we enforce it. My equal rights should be as equally protected as the next person, but instead it is sidelined by the "moral" majority that seems to think their rights extend to controlling my freedoms.
As far as what is said in the article, these are Wayne Besen's words as the article states. If you have a problem with what's said perhaps a "Wayne Besen Watch" would be in order?
Hehehe, you are a real treat to have an exchange with. Please continue, you are quite entertaining. ;)
Oh dear, John. Having comprehension problems, are you? Perhaps it's trying to see through the haze of anger that seems to permeate your perspective that's the cause.
As you well know, I said, "people like yourself." The writer of the post was Evan Hurst, not Wayne Besen. You liked the sentiment expressed so much that you sought permission to re-print it in full on your blog. And do you really subscribe to the idea that you can achieve equality by circumscribing the 1st Amendment rights of those you disagree with, as expressed by Hurst? (I do hope that you recognize a rhetorical question when you see one.)
Remember, this is all going to be about you. ;-)
I guess I'm missing the part where you see me asking for the silence of my opposition, could you point that out to me? Just because I vocalize my disagreement doesn't mean I want them silenced. Their hate, just like yours, makes for good conversation and learning material.
As a side note, Wayne Besen and I are friendly acquaintances and I have standing permission to post anything he has written of posts on his websites. You'd know that if you knew anything about me or had done any homework instead of letting your rage blind you. The very video you posted on your blog shows us working side by side. Talk about putting your foot in your mouth, lol!
Listen, no matter what you post about me I'm not going to take back my criticism of Mary Ann Bragg's article. In reviewing elements of the Cape Cod Times I see I am not alone in that thought. She is a big girl and a public figure through her work, she can take the heat or she can get out of the kitchen.
