What did you get for 9/11?

I got division. No not the mathematical type of division, but the kind of division that puts person against person. Odd gift to receive on a day when 5 years ago a tragedy occurs, and all Americans stand together as one, to help each other cope with the loss of life and the destruction. You’re probably asking how one person sends another division. Through an e-mail, I received a message that simply stated in the title “Do you remember this? I do !” It starts off with an image of the twin towers standing just as they did on Sept. 10th 2001. I did remember what the towers looked like, but then the message takes an unexpected turn.

“ Thought you might be interested in this forgotten bit of information..........

It was 1987! At a lecture the other day they were playing an old news video of Lt.Col . Oliver North testifying at the Iran-Contra hearings during the Reagan Administration.

There was Ollie in front of God and country getting the third degree, but what he said was stunning!

He was being drilled by a senator; "Did you not recently spend close to $60,000 for a home security system?"

Ollie replied, "Yes, I did, Sir."

The senator continued, trying to get a laugh out of the audience, "Isn't that just a little excessive?"

"No, sir," continued Ollie.

"No? And why not?" the senator asked.

"Because the lives of my family and I were threatened, sir."

"Threatened? By whom?" the senator questioned.

"By a terrorist, sir" Ollie answered.

"Terrorist? What terrorist could possibly scare you that much?"

"His name is Osama bin Laden, sir" Ollie replied.

At this point the senator tried to repeat the name, but couldn't pronounce it, which most people back then probably couldn't. A couple of people laughed at the attempt. Then the senator continued.. Why are you so afraid of this man?" the senator asked.

"Because, sir, he is the most evil person alive that I know of", Ollie answered.
"And what do you recommend we do about him?" asked the senator.

"Well, sir, if it was up to me, I would recommend that an assassin team be formed to eliminate him and his men from the face of the earth."

The senator disagreed with this approach, and that was all that was shown of the clip.

By the way, that senator was Al Gore!

Also:
Terrorist pilot Mohammad Atta blew up a bus in Israel in 1986. The Israelis captured, tried and imprisoned him. As part of the Oslo agreement with the Palestinians in 1993, Israel had to agree to release so-called "political prisoners."

However, the Israelis would not release any with blood on their hands. The American President at the time, Bill Clinton, and his Secretary of State, Warren Christopher, "insisted" that all prisoners be released."

Thus Mohammad Atta was freed and eventually thanked the US by flying an airplane into Tower One of the World Trade Center. This was reported by many of the American TV networks at the time that the terrorists were first identified.
It was censored in the U.S.A. from all later reports.

If you agree that the American public should be made aware of this fact, pass this on.”

Now throughout this message were 4 other photographs showing different states of destruction of the twin towers ending finally with what we call now “Ground Zero”.

This message is false in its claim, that the Mohammad Atta that blew up the bus, was the same person in the group of terrorists that attacked us on 9/11. http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/h/hijacker.htm

I find this e-mail to be just another symptom of America’s sickness. The author of this message sent out an incorrect and divisive message, when they could have found a way to bring us together again. President Bush did the same thing back during the presidential race with John Kerry. He was asked if homosexuality was a “choice”. He stated that he just didn’t know. Instead of trying to unite the country, he once again found a way to divide us even more.

I responded to the aforementioned e-mail with something I felt a bit more appropriate for the occasion. http://www.littledidsheknow.com/hero-full.htm

Raymond pointed out to me that Bush's comments on 9/11 came just before most political primaries. Did you see how his face had this wrinkled brow expression the entire time he spoke? Theatrics, simply theatrics. I am so critical of our president at this point I would not be surprized by anything anymore. "Read my lips" says his father, well read mine, "Bush lies."

Great job on the article Ken. I went to the website and listened to the song. I got choked up and started writing this post as I listened so forgive me if I seem over the top. When Clinton handed over the reigns this country was strong, proud, and well respected because we deserved to be. Look how far away from our old glory we have fallen, and it is because of the lack of vision of one person, and the inability of hundreds of millions to question his judgement.

Long live America, and may we have the courage to do what is right instead of what is easiest in order to fix what is wrong.

I agree but if I may add another person who lacks vision. Karl Rove. I don't remember what it was all about but around a year ago I heard he was telling all the republicans in congress that if they did not pass a certain bill, no other bill they put together would pass. Whatever happened to the public voting who we want into office and those elected do our will? It's not just republicans who do that kind of travesty, but all politicians in the mainstream.

I believe it is time for us as voters to start taking back America. We need to put our voices out there and become a force they need in order to stay as politicians, or we need new candidates. Here in Massachusetts we have people who are listening to the common man, and I believe come November we are going to see a huge upset. There will be a democrat for governor for sure, and some of the haters that pushed so hard for a petition to ban gay marriage are not running again, like Representative Travis. Others like Joyce Spiliotis of Peabody have their work cut out for themselves trying to save their hides politically.

The great people of the commonwealth of Massachusetts are going to shock the world with this election, I can feel it. I hope we always remain in the forefront of equality and education. How are things looking in Arizona?

Not good. Remember in a previous blog I mentioned the Center for Arizona Policy? Well a former president of that group (Len Munsil) is winning (last I heard) the republican primary for governor. The biggest issue in Az right now is illegal immagration. Governor Napolitano has not been proactive on that topic. Most voters will be voting for the strongest candidate on this issue. Len Munsil is that candidate. While illegal immagration is a big issue to me as well, I feel right now it's more important to have a governor who believes all citizens should have equal rights. Janet Napolitano is my choice for that reason and many others. She has been an excellent governor, better then we've had in decades.

I don't know if you can stand in the way of fear based civil division and make a difference, but it is worth a try. What the Governor needs to do is draw attention to the fact that this topic is a political divise to create division and promote mob mentality. George Wallace used this as I am sure you read my post on the issue. Informed people are your best asset, but the damamge might already be too much.

On a side note, how far are you from Peoria?

I've gotten this email before too, but if you go to Snopes.com, you'll find it's a bunch of lies.

It was actually sent to me by a "friend" that has from the day of 9/11 never ceased to shock me with her unaccepting attitudes. She was never like this before!

Anyway, I've sent her the Snopes.com links to many of her emails because she never checks to verify the truth of what she reads. Eventually, she stopped sending them to me.
