Day of Decision: Boston Rally

There are a series of 14 videos on YouTube you can check out, this one features "Voices Rising" the Women's Chorus of Boston. For those of you who are hearing impaired and can read sign language I made sure the camera was on the interpreter to include you in the enjoyment.

Be sure to head over to MassMarrier; Mike has provided several articles that make for great reading in which he covers many points and thoughts about Prop 8 .

I'm on a mini-vacation, so I haven't been on-line much, but I did see this morning, that the Prop 8 ruling is going to the Feds.

"Theodore B. Olson and David Boies have filed a U.S. District Court lawsuit on behalf of two gay men and two gay women, arguing that the California constitutional amendment eliminating the right of gay couples to marry violates the U.S. constitutional guarantee of equal protection and due process."

A mini vacation? I'm jealous...I want a mini vacation. :-)

Your comment, Jelly, reminds me of one of my biggest pet-peeves. (I know, I'm going off topic)

While it doesn't surprise me that a speech of this sort would not have an intepeter, it puzzles me that the media, which has a ve$ted intere$t in getting out their message chooses to ignore the 30 million of us who don't get their messsage.

Have you ever noticed how many commercial are not captioned? Have you ever noticed that fully one third of the news on CNN's homepage links to a non-captoed video.

Have you ever noticed that "SportCenter" and "Baseball Tonight" are almost impossible to follow?

You would think that the powers that be would want our business.

And have you ever noticed that only Democratic candidates caption their campaign commercials?

Jelly, go to 3:05 on the video when I realize that there was a sign language interpreter there.

It took you 3 minutes to notice there was interpreter ?

I hope I'm near someone more observant than you when I need CPR.

lol, john...i guess i didn't get to the 3:05 mark...

yes, captioning is weird and at times, so very random. i don't watch the sports programs you mentioned, but with commercials, most are not captioned, why is that?

anyway...john (the blog owner john) we are coming to boston. I think sat july 5th we will be visiting the aquarium and i'm not sure what else we are going to do.
i mentioned about possibly meeting up with you to the wife, and maybe later in the evening after dinner for coffee, may work.
let me figure out our agenda first and i will be sure to get back to you.

John, there was a lot going on to pay attention to, but I can be a little dense when I'm distracted. I didn't even get out of bed that day until 3:00PM after I heard the news.

Jelly, you let me know if and when, no big deal either way. I just wanted to show you a little hospitality and see who it is I've made friends with.

Jeez, John, I hope you realize I was just trying to make some good-natured fun of you.

And if you guys can arrange a meet-up, I would love to join in.

I hate that I have become a complete hermit. I hate the feeling I get when in a social situation, and I wind up nodding politely trying to pretend that I know what people are saying. But, since I have had my new hearing aids, I have had three positive experiences, the last being just this past weekend.

My daughter came home for the weekend and we went to a restaurant. The worst kind of situtaion for me; noisy and busy with music over the loudspeakers. But I put my hearing aids in "party mode", and I could converse quite well.

I suddely feel emboldoned by this experience.

I'll let you know what our exact plans are...we need a suggestion on a good place for dinner anyway.

Meeting up for coffee and (ha) cupcakes might be in order here!!

Yes, John you can show me some hospitality...I look forward to it.
