A Beautiful Thing

People Change, and that is a good thing.

Yesterday, one of the most hostile opponents of LGBT people has admitted that she was wrong.

"It is "a beautiful thing and a healthy thing" when gay couples fall in love," said:

Dr. Laura Schlessinger

This is why we must always, even as we call out bigotry, remember that hearts and minds are changing. A decade ago, it would have been unthinkable for her.

John Avovosis has more here.

Love conquers all.

Omgish...I read this yesterday and could not believe my eyes!
I still think she's a knucklehead but it was nice to read that she had a nice thing to say about GLBT people.

I'm not quite sure why earlier she didn't like same-sex marriage but now her mind has been changed.

I guess any good news in our corner is just...good.

My own opinion is that Dr. Laura was never really homophobic. In her earlier days, she was very tolerant, but her own life was a mess.

Like so many messed-up people she turned to religion for comfort and bought into the intolerance that religion often preaches.

I think she, having ditched her extemist brand of Judaism, is starting to think for herself.

I never looked at it that way, but, that seems to make perfect sense.
I'm glad you cleared that up for me...my wife was asking the same question. Like, why did she all of a sudden become tolerant.

Good deal.

I kinda-sorta speak from experience.

When I was a teenager, I got involved with Jehovah's Witnesses.

I know a bit about how it feels to pretend to accept dogma, even as it flies in the face of reason.

Wow, this is surprising. First Rick Warren, now Dr. Laura. LOL. Fine with me.

It feels odd when we see people who have bee nso instrumental in our continued oppression suddenly turn and say something other than what the have stuck by for so long.

It's liberating, but weird at the same time. Hey, I'll take it, that's what we are trying to accomplish, right?

Especially since I used to watch her show with my teenaged daughter jsut to teach her how NOT to be.

LOL, John we better start watching our typing. We already are accused of being the same person, those last two posts look like they we made by the same person because of our errors!

Right Aaron? ;)

One of these days, I'll post my picture (naked) and remove all doubt.

Don't do that John, I like being gay! ;)

I was just kidding; wouldn't want to make you jealous.

LOL!!! I've got nothing left to say that can top that one.

You should try reading this blog on acid. With your color scheme and visions of rainbows, it is a wild trip.
